ATO offers assistance to flood victims
The ATO (Australian Taxation Office) has offered to help address any concerns that people in flood affected regions may have about tax issues.
They may be able to provide assistance with:
- fast tracking of refunds
- extra time to pay debts
- extra time to meet activity statement, income tax and other lodgement obligations
- free help in reconstructing tax records where documents have been destroyed
- help for people experiencing serious hardship
