Kurilpa Bridge opening
On Sunday 4 October 2009 the Premier Anna Bligh officially opened the new $63.3 million Kurilpa Bridge linking the cultural precinct with the Brisbane CBD.

The Kurilpa Bridge plaque is unveiled by the Premier Anna Bligh, The Honourable Robert Schwarten MP, Minister for Public Works and Information and Communication Technology, and Grace Grace MP, Member for Brisbane Central.

It features a network of steel masts seemingly held in suspension by a cross stitching of high wire tensioned cables.
The bridge features two large viewing and relaxation platforms, two rest areas and a continuous all-weather canopy for the entire length of the bridge.
